Heritage Club

The heritage club is comprised of like-minded individuals who have invested in the future of children and families within the communities of the Sanford-Springvale YMCA by making a planned gift to the YMCA’s endowment fund. The endowment fund plays a vital role in the YMCA’s ability to serve a growing community and to respond to the rapidly changing needs of children, seniors and families in the area.

How are the funds used: Gifts to the endowment fund make an immediate impact by generating income for programs and projects, while growth of the fund’s assets provide opportunities to ensure the long term success of the YMCA. The fund consists of both general funds and those which have been designated by the donor to benefit specific programs or use.

Becoming a member: There are many ways to become a member of the Heritage Club. Planned giving opportunities include:

  • Outright gifts: Make an immediate contribution of cash or securities to the YMCA endowment fund.
  • Wills: Include the YMCA in your will. Specific assets, fixed amounts or a percentage of your estate may be specified. Another option is to name the YMCA as the recipient of the remainder of your estate after all bequests and expenses.
  • Appreciated assets: Contribute an appreciated asset, such as real estate, to the YMCA.
  • Insurance: Name the YMCA as the owner, primary or contingent beneficiary of a new or existing insurance policy.
  • Charitable trust: Establish a gift with life income retained by you, such as a charitable remainder unitrust, annuity trust or participate in a pooled income fund.
  • Charitable gift annuity: Fund a charitable gift annuity and receive a stable and predictable income for your lifetime.

Benefits of membership: In addition to providing long-term benefits for the community, becoming a member of the Heritage Club can provide tax benefits for you and your heirs. Please check with your tax professional to see which options in planned giving would be most beneficial to you and how to maximize the effectiveness of your gift.

Special events and gatherings are also offered to Heritage Club members. Members receive regular updates, newsletters and recognition at the annual Heritage Club dinner.
